After our experiments on what floats and doesn't float (using Predict, Observe
and Explain charts) we developed our own rules on why this happens. Our
next challenge is to group up and develop a small boat that can support
additional weight. We are using our rules to guide us. We set the following
criteria:
1. Our boats must float.
2. Our boats will fit into our paper recycling bin.
3. Our boats will be able to balance wieghts on top of them.
After drawing up quick plans we began the construction. Luckily we had a
camera to capture the action. Keep checking the website for Part Two of this
challenge where we take our boats to the school pool and see which one can
take the most weight!
